In January 2006, Bolingbrook Park District created the Natural Resources Department with three goals in mind.
1. Maintain and restore the District's natural areas.
2. Plan a comprehensive schedule of environmental and interpretive programs.
3. Initiate a public awareness campaign to educate the community to the benefits of natural areas.
The Bolingbrook Park District maintains over 400 acres of natural areas within Bolingbrook. Many of these sites are the meadows, woods, and wetlands in your neighborhood or behind your house.
Whether you live near Prairie Trails or Gateway Wetlands, there is a natural area you! Take a walk and enjoy!
